Since completion of my doctorate in 1995, I was subjected to three years of subsistence-level employment. In the fall of 1998, I entered contractual employment with Canada’s Social Science and Humanities Research Council. In both cases, my productivity has suffered from either worry over finances or exhaustion and lack of time resulting from a heavy load of administrative responsibilities.

And more recently, I have continued my training in French.
