8 moving messages from donors after the fire
After the affliction in front of the claim, the messages accompanying the donations to the foundation testify to a fierce desire to help in reconstruction.
- I followed the fierce fight of our firefighters on TV. I am proud to be French when I see their dedication and this generosity for this monument, symbol of history, culture and spirituality. I thank the Foundation for his commitment, gives him my support and my prayers to continue to contemplate our beautiful lady. Dawn
- Lots of emotion, but also a lot of suffering, a lot of hope: being able to come back and see Notre-Dame standing. Naman
- I am sensitive to the restoration of historic monuments in general. Notre-Dame is a symbol for Paris, France and Christianity. At least, this disaster will be used to restore the cathedral. I am a Parisian and I was going to listen to the organ in Notre-Dame regularly: I felt inner peace. I like to pass the building and follow the progress of the work. It feels good to see that we gradually find this marvel of Paris which illustrates many postcards! Marie-Noëlle
- The sorrow is still there; But also the work accomplished for restoration. Today, I am happy to send you a check for the Renaissance of the twelve chapels around the nave. Madeleine
- Courage to all! That we can see the cross and the arrow in the sky of Paris again. Mireille
- When I saw Notre-Dame burn, I had trouble breathing. It was the soul of France and a part of ourselves! Spontaneously, I wanted to give. My motivation was not to make a donation, because it is very modest, it was above all to participate. Since then, I have given regularly because I want to encourage the work of workers -with an upper “o”! – who work on this restoration. I experience deep respect for these craftsmen who have such a taste for a job well done and gold fingers to achieve it. They must be encouraged. Jeannine
- I made my confirmation on May 23, 2015 in our beautiful cathedral. When I saw the fire ignite Notre-Dame, I cried all evening. In the morning, I watched the television images and noted, with relief, that the statue of the Virgin and the Child and the Cross had resisted. I saw there a glimmer of hope. God had sent us a sign. Our cathedral was injured but we would find it one day. Nathalie
- April 15 is the anniversary of my mother’s death. It’s a difficult day to spend for me. So when the arrow fell that same day, I started to cry. I first responded to the collection for reconstruction and I continue for its interior design. When my nephews were children, I made them discover the Parisian heritage and of course our beautiful cathedral, whose story I told them. Françoise
