“I believe in the power of the human being”
You publish Watch. What is this book about? This is the story of three nights of marauding alongside homeless people and social workers and nurses from Samu social. Insecurity and poor housing are subjects that haunt me. I wanted to tell them.
This story takes the form of a long poem… Poetry allowed me to be faithful to the emotions I felt: the shock at this misery and the lack of political response, and the admiration for the commitment and hope of social workers. I hope in this way to sow seeds of disquiet in people’s minds.
A character you dream of playing? Victor Hugo. I love everything about him: his bulimia for knowledge, his eyes open to life, his contradictions. This response is a call for projects (laughs).
The book you could reread a hundred times? The man who planted trees, by Jean Giono. The story of a man who changes the destiny of a territory simply by planting oak trees. I believe in the power of the human being!
The Proust madeleine from your childhood? At the theater tonightthe ORTF show born in 1966. I didn’t have the chance to see plays in real life, so I learned about it through television. I could hear the murmurs of the viewers and the usherettes, the sounds of the curtains opening. I loved Jacqueline Maillan, Jacques François and Micheline Dax.
A solidarity initiative that touched you? Famirelay, an application created in 2025. It allows caregivers to be put in contact, to discuss their difficulties and their needs. We must not forget them. They too can become damaged and lose their health.
We offer you an hour of silence. What do you do with it? I walk on the forest paths of Triqueville (Eure), the Normandy village where my mother lives. The imposing beech trunks covered in moss resemble dinosaur legs. It’s great!
A spiritual place where you like to take refuge? The Saint-Jean-Baptiste church, in Fort-Moville, the neighboring town. It has dominated the valley since the 14th century. I like its little porch and its modesty.
For you, Jesus, it is… A revolutionary and a resistance fighter. He must have had energy, an intensity of that order to offer all this love with so much force.
