Under the protection of books
Benny, an American teenager, never came to terms with his father’s accidental death. His mother, Annabelle, also mourns her husband. And here they are drifting: he hears threatening voices coming from everyday objects, while she piles them up in the family home. Fortunately, the world of books watches over them and thanks, among other things, to a begging poet, a librarian and a Japanese author, they find peace. This dreamlike fable explores the themes of mourning, the consumer society, violence and mental health, the essential role of the book in our lives, with endearing characters and a lot of imagination.
