Éric Jean-Jean: “Love, without expecting anything in return”

You co-wrote 60 years of pop music. Make our mouths water…

This book is a journey through the soundtracks of our lives that awaken so many memories in us… When I listen Hotel California Eagles, I see myself in my teenage room, sliding the album on my turntable. I hope this magic will also work for your readers.

What does this book and your radio broadcasts on RTL and RTL2 reveal about you?

My pleasure in transmitting, surely inherited from my teacher mother!

The music that makes you happy in the morning?

stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin, an eight-minute track pulling us calmly out of sleep limbo, before exploding. It’s time to get out of bed!

The album you could listen to a hundred times?

The Marquesas, by Jacques Brel, sublime in beauty.

What beauty will save the world?

Love. Without expecting anything in return. By sacrificing himself to save humanity, Jesus is its best embodiment.

The most important person in your family?

My big sister, Corine, insurance agent near Prignac-et-Marcamps, our Girondin family cradle. It connects me to “real life”.

Proust’s Madeleine from your childhood?

The thick rib steak cooked in the fireplace, at my maternal grandmother’s, during Saturday tables.

Genes you’re happy to have inherited?

The altruism and generosity of Max, my late father, elected local leftist. He kissed people literally and figuratively.

A solidarity initiative in which you are involved?

For ten years, I have been sponsoring the festival for the benefit of orphans of firefighters in Talence.

Pope Francis grants you an audience. What question burns your lips?

My first instinct would be to listen to him. Perhaps he could tell me about his work in modernizing the Church?

You are offered immortality, you sign?

I believe in that of the soul. A question that the writer Marc Dugain deals with in his science fiction novel Transparency, who impressed me.

On RTL2, Monday to Friday, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Drive.

On RTL, on Thursdays from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m., he hosts Bonus Tracket in July and August, mornings from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
