The Gospel of Mass on August 15 and 17
The Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke*: Mass of August 15
In these days, Marie set out on the way and eagerly walked to the mountainous region, in a city in Judea. She entered the Zachariah house and greeted Elisabeth. However, when Elisabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the child began in her. Then Elisabeth was filled with Holy Spirit, and cried in a loud voice: “You are blessed between all women, and the fruit of your bowels is blessed. Where does it give me that the mother of my Lord comes to me? Because, when your words of greeting reached my ears, the child swapped with joy in me. Happy the one who believed in the fulfillment of the words which were told to him from the Lord. ” Mary then said: “My soul exalts the Lord, exults my Spirit in God, my Savior! He looked at his humble servant; Now all ages will say blessed. The powerful made wonders for me; Saint is his name! His mercy extends from age to age on those who fear him. Deploying the strength of his arm, he disperses the superb. He overturns the powerful of their thrones, he raises the humble. He fills the hungry with the hungry, returns the rich with empty hand. He notes Israel his servant, he remembers his love, the promise made to our fathers, in favor of Abraham and his descendants forever. ” Marie stayed with Elisabeth for about three months, then she turned home.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke*: Mass of August 17
At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: “I came to bring a fire to earth, and as I would like it to be already on! I have to receive a baptism, and what anxiety is mine until it is accomplished! Do you think I came to put peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather the division. Because now five people from the same family will be divided: three against two and two against three; They will divide: the father against the son and the son against the father, the mother against the daughter and the daughter against the mother, the mother-in-law against the daughter-in-law and the daughter-in-law against the mother-in-law. “
*Chapter 12, verses 49 to 53.

Peaceful family
Dominique Lang, Journalist at the Assumptionist pilgrim and religious:
While Jesus, in his teaching this Sunday, underlines how the message of the good news also comes to denounce the darkness and the lie, a few years earlier, Marie, his mother, had to be confronted with it when her pregnancy was to be talked about in his village. Fortunately, with his cousin, all of this disappears in a mutual exultation. There, the family is not crossed by violent divisions, suspicions, denunciations, but is recomposed in the action of mutual grace. “How can you visit me?” seem to sing these two women together. A question that they share and that they also let go to God himself. The light of the feast of Assumption comes to light the project of God for each of us, unifying our hearts in him, far from all our baseness, our violence, our divisions. Let the Christ make breach in us so that we can let ourselves be “assumed” by God, as he assumes Mary who is ahead of this path.
