Retirement Speech: Tips for Speaking Well
The point of view of Muriel Lacroix-Pringarbe, committed entrepreneur
On the occasion of your departure, would you like to send certain messages? I always thought that humor was the prettiest bow to put on our thoughts. So, here’s how I would approach this speech.
Start by talking about (with humor, therefore) this transition to retirement. Look back on the years rich in work, meetings and sometimes creativity to skillfully overcome the obstacles and difficulties of the business.
Lightly point out that problems have a particularity: often faithful, over time they teach us perseverance and tenacity. That’s why you won’t forget to leave your wonderful colleagues with some recurring thorny points so that they can continue to have fun in the company. This is when you must avoid sliding towards settling scores, especially since it no longer serves any purpose, except to leave a bitter taste behind you.
Instead, thank your colleagues while trying not to forget anyone: you will leave with the feeling of duty accomplished… and a deep respect for those who remain. You might conclude, “Thank you all and don’t change anything…just what you need.” » Happy retirement, Xavier, full of new projects.
