“And God created sport” at the big point
War, betrayal, pride of men … How to eradicate the violence of the world? It is to this difficult question that the part attacks And God created sport, Currently on the poster of the Grand Point Virgule. Under the direction of Alexis Chevalier, also an actor on stage, the company Le Saut du Tremplin offers us an original and energizing show.
On stage, five endearing and mischievous angels observe with amazement the violence that plagues the earth. The voiceover of the Archangel Nelson Monfort, immediately recognizable, intervenes to give them a mission: to restore peace. Their solution? Create war games to give the illusion of acquiring power but without fighting. In other words: invent sport.
A rhythm that does not weaken
This impossible challenge becomes the starting point of 1h20 of pleasure with a high -worked troop, sometimes dressed in delusional commentators sometimes in sportsmen, covering a wide range of activities (rugby and football first, then boxing, swimming, etc.).
Marguerite Kloeckner, Sibylle de Montigny (alternating with Sophie Deforge), Grégoire Roquetplo, Thibault Truffert and Alexis Chevalier occupy space with so much energy that certain passages resemble a real choreography. The scenes follow one another, becoming a real whirlwind that is both funny and inventive.
An overview of famous sportsmen
The history of sport is reinvented with freshness and originality. The actors put themselves in the shoes of high -level athletes, such as footballers Maradona and Zidane, the tennis player Federer, or the cyclist Armstrong, making us a bit nostalgic.
The portraits are always presented with a hint of malice but without falling into mockery or caricature. Something of something deeply delighted, making us a bit nostalgic.
Everyone has their own sport
After the Paris 2024 Olympics, which already seem distant, this joyful ode to sport evokes wonderful memories. It remembers the founding values felt last summer: fraternity, team spirit, respect, surpassing oneself … but also its limits!
But the room especially recalls that sport is a space where everyone can find their place. One of the funniest moments of the show is undoubtedly the one where, starting from a “typical profile”, the actors invent a perfectly adapted sport. Like aquagym for grannies, the Padel, described as “sport of young dynamic executives” or even biathlon for “people who want to shoot in the snow”.
And God created sport is a play that is good thanks to actors who transmit communicative energy. We come out of the theater with the crazy desire to (re) put our sneakers. A real breath of fresh air!
