“Hidden Mourning,” a useful, non-militant KTO TV documentary on abortion
Put words to the now almost ordinary reality of abortion. Cecylia Rançon’s documentary, broadcast on KTO TV, takes up the challenge with delicacy and respect. She goes to meet several women to understand the diversity of the situations they go through. Marion, Charlène, Alexandra, Sylvie… talk about what they experienced and how, years later, the memory is still there. Like a hidden mourning but necessary to resume a life in peace.
Curse, secrets, roots, but also life, luck, law, reparation, sorrow, healing: the words appear and evoke all the meanders traveled in joy or sorrow. A journey that is made all the more clear by the fact that guides, loyal friends or sensitive therapists were able to be there to help put words to the unspeakable. Places, such as the Sainte-Baume sanctuary, are also necessary for some, to place in the long term an act which is often managed in an emergency. A useful and non-militant documentary, but which could accompany many discussions with younger people, in particular, to help them move lucidly in their own choices.
