“Horizons”, the biggest ice show on tour in France
From behind the scenes, the scale of the project is obvious. More than 50 technicians orchestrate a precise ballet: the ice rink, seven centimeters thick, alone requires around thirty hours of assembly. Above the ice, twenty-nine tons of equipment – lighting, sound and video – are suspended from 55 rigging points. Nearly 235 moving projectors and a 200 m2 three-dimensional LED screen transform the track into a real moving urban landscape. Because Horizons vibrates to the rhythm of the city. Under the slogan Feel the City Beat!
(“Feel the rhythm of the city !”), the show immerses the audience in an imaginary metropolis, sometimes bursting with neon lights, sometimes intimate and secret. Thirty-seven artists among the best in the world, from 26 countries and generally young retirees from board sports, embody this colorful crowd: skaters, acrobats, jugglers and tracer acrobats perform jumps, lifts and other spectacular feats.
Behind the scenes, the parade is incessant. Skaters change up to eleven times per performance to showcase more than 300 costumes designed by designer Michael Sharp. His team devoted an entire year, or 6,000 hours of work, to making, from hundreds of meters of fabric, rhinestones and sequins, this wardrobe combining streetwear casual and music hall glamour.
Show born in the United States, Holiday on Iceafter eight decades, has enjoyed great success especially in Western Europe, notably in Germany, Austria, as well as the Netherlands, Belgium and France. Each year, these countries host a tour featuring a new show.
