“Jesus is a real curious”
You publish The man who listened to the heart of the cats. In a few words, put us mouth water …
A couple must mourn a child who was to be born. This test, my partner and I lived it. To deliver this story on consolation without falling into the pathos, I gave my tongue to my two cats who have spurred my sorrow.
The place that inspires you to create?
Cafes, preferably abroad so as not to understand the discussions surrounding me. I just spent three weeks in Iceland, I could imagine everything I wanted! To write, I also need to isolate myself at home, in my barge, in front of my little office, facing the porthole, in the silence of the night.
A character you dream of embodying?
I would rather want to reincarnate. In my mother, disappeared in 2003. I would like to tell the life she would have had if her parents had not prevented her from singing*.
The Madeleine de Proust from your childhood?
My Hawaii skateboard. With this poor quality model, a moped helmet on my head, I was crossing the country roads around Valence (Drôme) with my friends. It was freedom!
The object that crosses all generations in your family.
A clock in cuckoo. I like its outdated side and paradoxically out of time.
A gesture of happy sobriety?
Let yourself go, for a more or less long time, by someone else, opening a book. It is a gesture of emotional ecology!
Your cute sin?
Excessive enthusiasm, which can cause collateral damage to my loved ones. Passionate in nature, I cannot refer it. At the risk of falling into depression.
What beauty will save the world?
Curiosity! The one who invites you to open up to the other, to the one who does not think like you.
For you, Jesus, it’s …
A real curious, precisely! Whether or not we believe in him, he embodies otherness, empathy, generosity, but also forgiveness: values today undermined.
*The death of his mother inspired his first book to him, published in 2005, Now that he is getting over you over you all the time (Ed. I read; € 6.50).
