The prayer to the “Sacred Heart of Jesus” of Saint Marguerite-Marie Alacoque

“O very loving Heart of my only love Jesus, not being able to love you, honor and glorify you according to the extent of the desire that you give me, I invite heaven and earth to do it for me; and I united with these ardent seraphim to love you.

O Heart all burning with love, may you not inflame the sky and the earth with your purest flames to consume everything they encompass, so that all creatures breathe only your love!

Change my whole Heart to love you, consuming me in your keenest ardor.

O divine fire, oh pure flames of the Heart of my only love Jesus, burn me without pity, consume me without resistance!

O love of heaven and earth, come, come all into my Heart to reduce me to ashes!

O devouring fire of the Divinity, come, come and burst upon me! Burn me, consume me in the midst of your most vivid flames, which bring to life those who die there.

So be it! »
