173 facts identified in 2024, a drop of 29 % according to Retailleau
A total of 173 anti -Muslim facts were identified in 2024, a drop of 29 % compared to 2023, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday, February 18.
“Last year, 173 anti -Muslim facts were counted”a figure “No doubt below reality, because all the victims do not necessarily file a complaint”said Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau when the second session of the forum of Islam in France (FORIF).
This figure is decreased 29 % compared to the year 2023, marked by 242 facts, according to the Ministry of the Interior. In 2022, 188 facts had been identified and 213 in 2021.
Antimusulman facts have represented 7 % of the anti -religious facts, according to the ministry.
“Support the victims with dignity”
“Faced with the facts that aim for our compatriots of Muslim confession, we will be intractable”promised Bruno Retailleau, who counts according to the text of his speech relying “From now on on a new actor: the defense association against discrimination and anti -Muslim acts” (Addam).
This association founded in February 2024 has a platform for the reporting of anti -Muslim acts which will be launched “In a few days”. It will allow “To consolidate the figures of the Ministry of the Interior and to accompany the victims of anti -Muslim facts”said the minister.
Bruno Retailleau also welcomed that the work of the Forer has made it possible to “Put an end to an anomaly: the absence of territorial referents within the Muslim worship to exchange with the authorities” on security.
Last year, 52 % of anti -muslim damage was made up of property damage, and 48 % of people’s damage. Geographically, 41 facts were identified in Île-de-France, 24 in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and 20 in Hauts-de-France.
