A race to combine faith and sport
They were 1300 during the first edition, to start in the streets of Paris to rally Notre-Dame at the Madeleine church, passing among others by Saint-Sulpice and Notre-Dame-des-Victoires. Created by the Church of France on the occasion of the 2024 Olympic Games, the “Paris Tour” Paris Churches “proposes to rediscover the religious heritage of the capital otherwise. At the beginning of this project, it was also a question for the association to honor the memory of the Catholic Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the Olympic Games.
A solidarity race
Top start at 8:45 am Sunday, with two possible routes: the timed 10km race, starting from the forecourt of Notre-Dame cathedral, and a 5km walk from Notre-Dame-des-Victoires. This double formula allows both ultramarathonians and people with disabilities to take part in the joys of sport. The kick -off will be launched by Wilfrid Mbappé, father of the famous football player. All participants are expected on arrival to live a Madeleine mass together.
Pleasure and prayer
Winner of the Women’s category last year, Hortense, 24, will be on the starting line this year again. “This race offers another approach to sport, less competitive” confides the young woman, “it seems to me perfectly correspond to the call of Pope Francis to be Christians in movement”. At each runner, it is proposed to take an intention of prayer and to deposit it on arrival at the Madeleine.
You have until May 12 to register. And of course, the team of Pilgrim will be present to take up the challenge!
