Assassination of Charlie Kirk, controversial figure of Conservative Trumpist America

The day had started well in this sunny corner, south of Salt Lake City. Faced with an assembled crowd of nearly three thousand students, the very media Charlie Kirk gave one of his outdoor meetings which had made its reputation for a few years. Indeed, at the head of an “American Comeback Tour”, the young man was responsible for restoring credibility to conservative positions on American university campuses, traditionally rather progressive.

Under the small white tent where he sat as usual, the man faced his audience, chaining questions and answers with his interlocutors, admirers or opponents. “Keep Me Wrong” (“Show me that I am wrong) Is the watchword of these meetings broadcast on social networks and very viewed. A good rhetorician and well in tune with the times, this influencer can thus chain the coupoing claims to denounce the politically correct and the well-thought of his opponents of Pro-Palestinian or anti-Trump.

A pro-armes activist

At 12:20 pm, this September 10, when the discussion relates to regular mass killings in the country, Charlie Kirk, himself a pro-Armes militant, was hit on the neck by a shot from almost 200 m away. No doubt an individual housed on the roofs of a neighboring building and which is always wanted at this time. Charlie Kirk, quickly evacuated, will not recover from this serious injury.

President Trump himself announced the drama, welcoming this icon of the movement “Make America Great Again (Maga).” Designating him as “who devoted his life to the public debate and to the country that he loved so much”, he is a safe bet that the Donald Trump movement will be able to take advantage of the anger aroused by this attack to further accentuate its nationalist policy in the process of deployment. On the other side of the political spectrum, the Democratic Governor of California Gavin Newsom paid tribute to the young man, repeated “his admiration for his passion and his commitment to the debate.” He himself had welcomed him in the first episode of his podcast.

Face of Christian nationalism

Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, Charlie Kirk found his vocation as a political speaker in contact with Bill Montgomery, a politician close to the Tea Party movement. In 2012, at 18, he founded the USA turning point (TPUSA) which participated in the emergence of new conservative networks in the country. Taken generously in charge by conservative investor Foster Friess, man has thus been able to multiply the operations in recent years to defend the agenda of President Trump and that of North American Christian nationalism.

For his re -election in 2020, he notably gave himself the ambition to recruit a million students from generation Z to his cause. In 2021, this engaged Christian also aims to recruit churches to defend the conservative project. For five years too, the man hosted a three -hour daily radio program which was very followed and relayed. Because from 2016, and despite some initial reluctance, the man joined the candidate who became President Trump.

With him, he participated in the in -depth transformation of the Republican Party, more and more identity, nationalist and radicalized. Man has not deprived himself either to spread theories and questionable affirmations on fraudulent votes or the impact of the COVID-19, while criticizing the civic movement of Martin Luther King Jr, the rights of homosexuals or by defending the agressive policy in progress with regard to the Palestinians of the Israeli government.

Pro-life activist, opposing the use of the contraceptive pill, man defended a traditional family model. He himself had married in 2021 Erika Frantzve, who had notably won the title of Miss Arizona in 2012. They had two children. They were present this September 10 on site, while Charlie Kirk was shot.

Ironically, a year earlier, in another event that had kept very far from it, the influencer had still said: “I think it is worth having unfortunately the price to pay for some dead by firearm each year to continue to be able to benefit from the second amendment which protects the other rights given by God.”
