“Brazilian sounds galvanize me”
You start the 10th season of Early morning weekends. Tell us …
Presenting this program is a chance because it is really a space of freedom, with various subjects and in tune with the times. After thirty years spent in RTL, I am surprised that the editorial staff still wants me (laughs).
What does this loyalty reveal you?
The love of radio and especially iron health. On Saturdays and Sundays, I get up at 2 a.m., I arrive at the office at 3 am and moved to the studio at 4 am. It is a fairly sporty rhythm, but although I have the age of my arteries, I feel in great shape!
Your last cultural crush?
So much the better, Amélie Nothomb’s latest novel. A disturbing reading on the acceptance of the death of a parent. I find a lot of things I would have liked to write.
A film that you could see a hundred times?
Barry Lyndon, by Stanley Kubrick. I remember seeing it when it was released in theaters, in 1975. This is the film in my life.
The music that makes you happy in the morning?
I listen to the Brazilian sounds, especially the discs of the musician Joao Gilberto and those of the saxophonist Stan Getz. There is nothing more galvanizing!
The person who counted the most in your family?
My mother. We had an incredible bond. We were in symbiosis until his last breath. She is my guardian angel.
The object that crosses generations in your family?
My father’s legion of honor. He died when I was 11 years old, and this medal is one of the only concrete memories that I have of him. I will bequeath her to my two sons of 7 and 12 years old.
A solidarity initiative that touches you?
Actions carried out by volunteers in tutoring. I am very sensitive to the future of the young generations.
We give you three days, a backpack and no car. Where are you going?
On the Ile de Ré, where I have a lot of childhood memories. I find there the colors of the hopper roses, the scents of the salt marshes and the formidable taste of oysters.
An inspired place where you like to take refuge?
The Caussols plateau, near Grasse. A spiritual and telluric place.
For you, Jesus, it’s …
A magnificent story that everyone can appropriate in their own way.
