“For sport, I left my village”
This is your first Olympic Games. What image will you keep from the opening ceremony?
This global event reflected the very image of the French Touch that I love! On the boat of the French delegation, I experienced unforgettable moments.
What music soothes you?
Before each competition, I listen to a motivating playlist including rather calm tunes or some tracks by the very versatile rapper PLK.
The movie you could watch a hundred times?
There is not one but two: Toy Story And Our neighbors, men, cartoons from my childhood that I loved watching with my brother. Since I moved for my sports career, we don’t share these special sessions as often anymore.
The person who mattered the most in your family?
My parents. They always supported me, even if it was hard for them to see me leave young. To realize my sports dreams, I left my village of Manduel, near Nîmes. At 13, I joined the sports center of Compiègne (Oise), then that of Bordeaux (Gironde), before joining the Insep in the Paris region.
After sport, what career do you plan to pursue?
Archery coach or police officer, like my father and cousin. You have to leave a lot of doors open when you have a high-level career, always full of surprises.
What are you going to do with the 40,000 euro bonus you received for your silver medal?
Put some aside, use the rest to finance my license and buy a car. When school starts again, I’m starting my final year of high school.
You have three days, a backpack and no car. Where are you going?
In the mountains. I like the refreshing calm of beautiful landscapes. I am a country guy used to peace and quiet. I will probably not live in Paris for the rest of my life.
You are offered an hour of silence. What do you do with it?
I think about what has changed in me over the last two years. Two years of living life at a hundred miles an hour in the run-up to the Games. I feel like I have changed a lot.
For you, Jesus, it is…
Someone who helps me and accompanies me. Catholic, I try to be practicing. My parents and my grandmother passed that on to me.
You are offered immortality. Will you sign?
I don’t think so. Things are less valuable when they have no end.
