Like a summer rain

“Manu! Manu! I have a surprise for you! This cry of joy by Françoise and the invaluable gift she offered me remains engraved in my heart. A dozen years ago, I worked as responsible for a home for the ark. People with disabilities and caregivers lived there in a relationship of reciprocity. At that time, I went through a busy period at this time. One Saturday, while everyone rests, I stay alone with Françoise.

The latter really likes to tinker, but we must take care that she does not take too much equipment in her room, because she may isolate herself, to the detriment of relations with the other people of the home. Also, when I see her taking perforated forms and taking a bunch of leaves in her room, I hesitate to stop it. I have work … I leave it to its creation and I will see with it afterwards. I feel that I have to let it do it.

Concentrated thoroughly on the schedules, I forget Françoise. Thirty to forty-five minutes later, I intend to get out of his room, after the corridor, bursting with laughter and shouting: “Manu! Manu! I have a surprise for you! Manu! Manu! She burst into the office, her face magnificent, radiant and hilarious at the same time. From the bottom of my chair, I look at her, taken aback. She plunges her hand into an envelope and takes out the handles of small paper stars in bright colors, which she pours me on my head with grace and sweetness! I close my eyes, offer my face, and receive his gift as a beneficial summer rain.

This unexpected present is exactly what I need at that time, tired and “in the rush”! His soul speaks to mine: we are raised in connection with heart, as in the communion of saints. In my heart, I explode recognition. I contemplate this beautiful staging – the graceful gestures of Françoise, her incredible rain of stars – while tasting it internally. Françoise invited me to live in the present, to be fully there. This magical and poetic moment upset me. Immersed in human fragility, I received the power of God. The “smallest” invited me to welcome the good news of true love, gave me the meaning of my work and the vital energy I needed to continue my mission.
