Muriel Lacroix-Pringarbe’s advice
The point of view of Muriel Lacroix-Pringarbe, entrepreneur
Dear Barbara, “carrying”, or could we say “sharing” books is often a service organized by a library or a media library. It seems complicated, even dangerous, to start alone, and that is surely what your friends wanted to tell you. Like any voluntary activity, it must be organized, supervised, declared and insured. This explains why it is often supported by an already existing structure allowing, above all, to have access to a catalog of books, magazines, records or films that an individual does not have.
Could a library near you offer this service? Would it be possible for you to join or create it? This will require you to be able to assess the number of people potentially concerned; to decide on the frequency of visits, the distribution and collection procedures for books. Perhaps you will have to make an appointment before going to the homes of elderly or disabled people? This great idea should probably be organized with other volunteers, because it will involve a strong commitment and a lot of travel.
All my best wishes accompany you in this wonderful initiative!
