Notre-Dame regains its framework
It was Léonard Laforest, the youngest carpenter at Ateliers Perrault, the company from Saint-Laurent-de-la-Plaine (Mauges-sur-Loire) who had the honor of attaching the flowers to the cathedral. A symbol for the companies involved in this project, such as the Public Establishment responsible for restoration, which are campaigning for the heritage restoration professions to attract new recruits and for traditional know-how to be passed on.
“Notre-Dame has regained its silhouette” commented Philippe Jost, president of the public establishment, while all the teams of carpenters rejoiced, not without emotion after nearly two years of work, carried out according to the methods and 13th century tools for the nave and choir.
