Julie is silent by Leonardo Van Dijl

Drama. 1h37. In theaters on January 29.

In a Belgian tennis club, Julie (Tessa van den Broeck, photo ), a budding champion, repeats sequences of a forehand… alone. His coach, Jérémy, has just been suspended, one of the hopes he was busy committed suicide. While several players are questioned about the coach’s actions, Julie matures in silence.

For his first film, the former Belgian journalist Leonardo Van Dijl seized a subject which has hit the headlines, but which remains little treated in the cinema: sexual violence in competition sport.

Its scenario dismantles, with finesse, the mechanisms of the grip and highlights the essential joys, from daily life to family outings with friends, who lead a victim to the slow self -reappropriation. Until a word can, finally, emerge from darkness
