“Road safety deserves our full attention”

You publish (Im)possible. Tell us more…

This book tells the story of an ordinary young girl who, one day in October 2018, falls into an “extraordinary” world. Hit by a motorist, my leg was amputated. Even though my path was strewn with obstacles and physical and psychological pain, I was able to rebuild myself thanks to the practice of tennis and a caring environment.

Where do you like to play tennis?

The center of Roland-Garros. Having the opportunity to play a match there during the Olympic Games was a childhood dream. Ironically: it was my status as a disabled sports player that allowed me to achieve it this summer!

The person who meant the most in your family?

My mother, always present and reassuring. We don’t share the same vision of family – his is traditional – but we are very close.

A hidden talent?

After tennis, music is the second passion of my life! I learned piano at the conservatory, from the age of 7. I also practiced singing accompanied by guitar with my scout company. What a joy to sing!

A cause you are committed to?

That of road safety. I would like to avoid a repeat of my drama. It is difficult to live without a car, especially in rural areas. However, reinventing mobility seems necessary to me. We could imagine public transport for the elderly.

Guardian angel on your shoulder?

My grandfather, to whom I was very close. I confided to him my childhood joys and sorrows. His disappearance, when I was 12, caused an emotional earthquake in me. The Archangel Raphael, whose name means “God heals” in Hebrew, also means a lot in my life.

A spiritual place where you like to take refuge?

The churches. There is a peaceful and timeless atmosphere, ideal for contemplation. It’s a reassuring silence. The only one I like.

You are offered immortality. Do you sign?

No. Once we have accomplished our duty of transmission on Earth, we must let the next generation take its place.
