search at the IESH of Nièvre targeted in a financial investigation

Searches were carried out on Wednesday December 4 by the judicial police at the European Institute of Human Sciences (IESH), specializing in the training of imams, in Nièvre, as part of an investigation relating in particular to suspicions of non- declaration of financing from Qatar.

The Nevers public prosecutor’s office confirmed these searches. This investigation concerns suspicions of money laundering, breach of trust as well as non-compliance with the obligation to declare foreign financing, said a source close to the matter.

The IESH was founded at the initiative of the Union of Islamic Organizations of France (UOIF, now Muslims of France), close to the Muslim Brotherhood. The institute presents itself as a private higher education establishment specializing in the teaching of the Arabic language, Muslim theology and learning of the Koran.
