Singer Grégoire invites resilience in his new album “Vivre”

He kept his fans pining for six years. From the CD Experiences, released in 2018, Grégoire (Grégoire Boissenot in civilian life) had remained silent. However, he was not idle, because in the meantime, he wrote the music of Bernadette of Lourdes, a successful musical comedy that has been running since 2019 and has more than 200,000 spectators to date. But, like everyone else, he was faced with the hazards of Covid-19. A parenthesis which inspired his new album: “Containment,” he says, “has shown that our lives could change at any time in a fraction of a second. This is why, on the 12 tracks of this disc, I exalt life. » The first verse of Live, the eponymous song of the album, sets the tone: “Yes, my friends, we are going to live/And live hard, intensely/Looking only ahead/Living at more than a hundred thousand percent/Forgetting that we are going die. » Same vein in The world is Ours, where he addresses his beloved in these terms: “We are going to live every day/We are going to live our love/As if it were the last/Every second of every hour/We will take all the happiness/And never half. » To make the idea of life triumph, he even rejects memories linked to death. So, in the piece I forgive you, he draws a line under the double drama which severely marked him. The youngest of three siblings, Grégoire tragically lost his two eldest children, in 2002 and 2007 respectively. For a long time, his pain remained acute. “I wrote this song to turn the page,” he confesses, finally calming down.

And there’s no question of letting the living be bothered! As evidenced by the title of the most committed song on the album: Salone in the yard. Here, the lyricist takes on neither the apron of the harasser nor that of the harassed, but that of the majority, all those who see but say nothing. Initially, Grégoire did not really feel concerned by school bullying. But the recurrence of stories in the media and his son's entry into sixth grade made him aware of this cause. Here he protests against this form of collective cowardice which takes root in school: “We must create an environment to offer a shoulder to people persecuted by their peers. So that fear changes sides. » This message that he has already transmitted to some high schools and colleges since the release of the album at the end of January, he will renew it throughout his tour across France, starting in April. In this regard, this series of concerts will at times take on the appearance of a humanitarian mission!
