Who is Charlie Beaumont, the character you are performing in the film?

Author of a score that must be played by the musicians of a string quartet, Charlie is called to the rescue to help them interpret this piece. He is a modest and secret man whose mystery I like. To interpret it, I was inspired by the composer Grégoire Hetzel, who wrote the music of this fiction.

What does this role of you reveal to us?

My passion for music. I practiced the amateur clarinet a lot. In the film, my character compares the game of a quartet to the passage of a cloud of starlings in the sky. A set full of beauty, without chief, in which everyone must rely on the movement of the other. It speaks to me as an actor.

The music you love?

Since my 17 years, all forms of jazz have been interested. I listened in a loop ” Rock Bottom »Mythical album by Robert Wyatt and the title” Spiral dance »From saxophonist Jan Garbarek. Two wonders.

A book you like?

On painting from Gilles Deleuze, inspired me a lot during the shooting of the musicians. What the author says about the strength of pictorial works is transposable to music. For him, works of art are lights that sometimes shed light on philosophical concepts.

What would you like to transmit to your four adult children?

The family like a benchmark, without them becoming a stifling space. As a father, I’m just trying to be there for my children. Neither too present nor not enough. A difficult balance to find.

Young man, I liked to discover the atmosphere of Dieppe and his port. I am from Haute-Normandie. I experienced my first shooting as a technician, my first job. A good plan to reconnect to nature?

I have been walking for about four years. My inaugural journey, I lived it between Genoa and Rome, for 650 km, with my partner. Each step is a way of freeing yourself from the tensions that live in our time. Walking allows you to breathe, to think, to seek meaning while welcoming the world as it is, with its dream decorations and its outings of cities with paved rounds …

A gesture of happy sobriety?

Everyone must first try to go well with themselves, to reconcile with the living and with the environment by posing individual gestures of sobriety. Redefine collectively by connecting to each other, it will come second.

You have an hour of silence. What are you doing?

I enter reverie. At Christmas, I walked between Toulouse and Castelnaudary, along the Canal du Midi. The branches of the plane trees were cut into the misty sky. These drawings were constantly renewed, arousing hypnotic contemplation.

A guardian angel above your shoulder?

A guardian angel I don’t know, but spirits, yes. They manifest themselves when I think of the missing people. They remain present until we returned to sand, in turn….

We offer you immortality. As an actor, do you sign?

Do you laugh? It would be so pretentious! The films are ephemeral. One day, they will not even be watched. Some of those I have shot before the digital transition have already disappeared. Immortality is obviously not the rule of the game for humans …
