A festival between land, sea … and musical journey

The Baie du Mont-Saint-Michel is preparing to vibrate again to the rhythm of classic and sacred music. From September 19 to October 5, 2025, the festival via Aeterna returns for its 8th edition, chaired this year by Samuel Lieven, editorial director of The pilgrim. An edition that promises a breath of adventure, carried by the artistic direction of René Martin.

For the first time, via Aeterna crossed the English Channel and ventures to the Anglo-Norman Islands. It is in the chapel of the Highland College, in Jersey, that the opening concert will be given on September 19.

The trip, as a common thread

Over the days, the public will embark for a real musical world tour. On September 26, in Saint-Pair-sur-Mer, the ensemble La Chacana, directed by Pierre Hamon, will plunge back into the Spanish music of the New World, mixing flutes, percussion and voice inspired by the great crossings towards Latin America. The next day, on September 27, the Haras d’Avranches will take on Scandinavian tunes with The Curious Bards, which will make the singular sounds of the Swedish Nyckelhar and Norwegian Hardingfele discover.

On September 28, in Carolles, heading for a baroque repertoire between Italy and France with works by Corelli, Vivaldi and Dall’abaco, carried by the harpsichordist Justin Taylor.

On October 3, in Cancale, place at the revelation of this edition: the pianist Arielle Beck, 16, discovered in Tokyo during the crazy days. Finally, on October 5, the festival will end in apotheosis at Mont-Saint-Michel with the last masterpiece of Mozart, presented in a rare version of the 19th century where the soloists sing the choir, under the direction of Yoan Héreau.
