Faced with the ecological emergency, they have (or not) chose to have children

Alexandre and Marie-Ange Huon de Kermadec, 35 and 36, Seine-Saint-Denis.

“After the birth of our second baby four years ago, we had the opportunity to dig environmental issues. We came out of our exploration with two hypotheses: either no one knew, and it is normal that things did not move. Either everyone knew, and the immobility is frightening. We have continued to deepen our knowledge, moreover crossing real anxieties about the future.

We had two children, Armel and André, and it seemed impossible to stay without doing anything. We then changed our way of consuming, thinking, and also changed profession. Undeniably, our little ones were a catalyst for our awareness: what world were we going to leave them?

What would we tell them about what we had tried to do? Then we had a third boy, Briac.

Because considering “one less child” as a lever of decarbonation seems to us false and dangerous. Rather, a child decreases the consumption of his parents. We still asked ourselves the question: could we conceive a third and plunge it into such a difficult environment, when he hadn’t asked for anything? The call of life, in the end, took it. »»
