give life despite the ecological crisis

give life despite the ecological crisis

My son,

As far as I remember, I always dreamed of a mother.

Whether this desire is induced by my gender role in this society, or my hormones, the expectations of those around me, my representations of a fulfilled woman, the moon … No matter what. This deep desire had registered in my head, in my heart, and in my belly.

I rocked so many stuffed animals, cajolé so many animals, defended the little ones, loved by older, waiting for you.

Even by gently opening your eyes to a world that flickers, which trembles by the fault of men, my desire remained, and I took, we made with your dad, the decision to follow this desire despite everything! I gave birth to a little man, while Mother Nature suffers from their presence and their future, both, is threatened.

(…)

I am so happy to see you grow, but I am sometimes taken with a sudden panic, invasive, faced with the promises I made for us, when you were in my belly, a quiet life to watch the leaves of the trees, which I might not be able to hold. Tomorrow worries me. And I keep with me this guilt of a future that may not be so sweet as the one I dreamed and sung for you.

However, I continue to have confidence in nature, and, by extension, in those who believe in it.

And that’s also why you are there, my little love, you are part of the living, and I have the hope that humanity will be better with you than without.
We will have to build this ideal of life together, where respect for what will guide our gestures.

We will work, with your formidable father, to transmit tools for autonomy to you, to get rid of consumerism, as well as a critical spirit. You are already resourceful, determined and sensitive and I hope that we will manage to offer you an education guided by empathy and sharing. And, for you, I hope to show courage and determination. I love you and I believe in you, I believe in us.
