Living Easter Sunday at home
Easter Sunday morning meditation
Let us be in joy: we have accompanied the Lord in his passion, that he takes us in grace and we keep in his love. I remember my baptism and I thank the Lord. I read and meditate on Easter Sunday texts for the first time (to read here).
With children in the morning
• I offer a pastry workshop: Together, we prepare a cookie in the shape of a Pascal lamb (we easily find mussels or cookie cutters and the recipe for the cookie). An Alsatian tradition, the “Osterlammala”, appreciated by all!
• I launch a decoration workshop ::
1. Cook hard eggs. Decorate them with felts or painting to celebrate Easter: the egg is a symbol of life!
2. Prepare a “Easter tree”: hang on naked branches of paper garlands of different colors, paper flowers, Easter eggs. For an interior decoration or for a garden shrub.
Accompanied prayer. The victorious love
Duration : about 30 minutes, from the Easter morning gospel, in three moments.
When ? At the end of the morning, so that Easter joy illuminates all day. Or in the afternoon, to offer to taste the cookie in the form of a Pascal lamb.
Or ? In the prayer area decorated with white and yellow, like a festive setting, with flowers.
What to prepare? Children have prepared Easter eggs or Easter tree. Provide a vase with flowers.
1- “The first day of the week”
→ I make the sign of the cross: “In the name of the father …”
→ The host: “Let’s be joyful! Let’s celebrate the risen Christ, he is the real light. With the whole church, let’s rejoice! »»
→ Song: Lifetime day (I 34-92-8)
Living day for our land, Alleluia! Alleluia! (bis) / The body yesterday bruises its glory: love has broken death! / Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! / Live day, on any exodus, Alleluia! Alleluia! (bis) / water and mind, reborn men: everyone has a new name / Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
→ Proclamation of the Gospel (John Chapter 20, verses 1 to 2; to read here): “The first day of the week, Marie Madeleine goes to the tomb in the morning (…) We do not know where we have deposited. »(Cf. this Sunday texts)
→ Gospel sharing: Recall why Sunday has become “the first day of the week” for all Christians. It was indeed the day after the Sabbath that Marie Madeleine discovered the empty tomb (Saturday, Sabbath Day, it is not allowed to hire the dead).
2-Christ is resurrected!
→ Suite of the proclamation of the Gospel of John (chapter 20, verses 3 to 8): “Pierre left with the other disciple (…) he saw, and he believed. »(Cf. this Sunday texts)
→ Gospel sharing: admire the faith of the disciple who “saw and believed”. Because he did not see Jesus, he only saw the empty tomb. But his heart is like transported, here is the time of faith!
→ Song: Christ is alive (i 214) (words here) .1. Christ is alive! Alleluia! He’s with us! Alleluia! Blessed be his name throughout the universe! Alleluia!
→ As a sign of joy, offer each other a flower, if you are with the family or in community.
3- towards new life
→ The animator: “Flowers are new life that is reborn in the spring while Arresse and Buisons seemed dead during the winter. Jesus is noted from death by the Father for a new life, eternal life. Only God’s love can do that! And, in his love as a father, he shares the same gift with us: baptism, which leads us to this life which will fully flourish in God. »»
→ Read the 2nd reading of the day (letter from Saint Paul Apostle to the Colossians, chapter 3, verses 1 to 4), then resume song “Christ is alive”: it is our joy! Alleluia! He’s our hope! Alleluia! He’s our bread, he’s our life! Alleluia! Alleluia!
→ Proclamation of the last part of the Gospel of John (chapter 20, verse 9): “Until then, in fact, the disciples had not understood that, according to writing, Jesus had to resuscitate from the dead. »»
→ Prayer: The host: “Lord, we sometimes find it difficult to believe. Open our hearts to your word, make us your witnesses. You who live for centuries of centuries / Amen. “” Almighty God, fill us with your blessings and make us live in children of light, you who love us for centuries of centuries / Amen. »»
→ In joy, let’s share Easter eggs or other chocolates. Happy Easter !
